029: it's a gut feeling
Hello fellow human
This week, we are unravelling the heavy influence the gut plays over our everyday experience, and if your history of raising your hand for help to contemporary approaches for disorganised states is anything like mine, it may carry a little shock value. That is…
Did you know we require gut bacteria diversity for fear extinction, but not acquisition? (Seems a bit unfair, doesn’t it? Also hoses down our modern attempts to ‘think better’).
Did you know that recent gut-based interventions for neurodivergence have left some participants below the cut-off for their previous diagnosis? (Continues to myth-break any idea of genetic fate for ND).
Did you know that oxytocin is produced not just from affectionate touch, but with the help of breast milk to a child, and from bacteria in our stomach, with both of those compromised by environmental interference? (Another playground for the dose-dependent impact of urbanicity on just about every diagnosis).
As always, we peel back the cultural poverty, try to restore the lost village and compassionately understand the generational cascades that bring us to endings we do not desire, but by committing to sitting in our naked truth, we increase the chances for self-directed healing of both ourselves and our loved ones.
