Greetings fellow human
This week, we are exploring the Defense Cascade, which is one of my favourite topics because it:
Helps us understand where we are, where we have been and where we would like to go.
Helps bridge the gap between disorganised states and current cultural attempts to meet them.
More on the second point, we investigate why:
Panic attacks are drawn from the grief system (separation stress), not hyperarousal.
Talk therapy can lead to retraumatisation in trauma subtypes.
Why, when we are told it’s a cortisol problem (when it’s an oxytocin problem) and talking hurts us (when our body is trying to save us), we head in the exact opposite direction we wish for - and of course, what we can do to resolve that.
Hopefully, there are some useful tools in there for you again this week.
