Happy Friday fellow human,
Dropping off the latest ep of the pod, a deep dive into ADHD.
Should you have this diagnosis, we have something in common, and maybe you, too, felt that big breath of validation on the day it was presented to you, and then also, the day after, a question arose that perhaps remains unanswered: So, what now?
There are a couple of movements surrounding this moment that I posit are signs of our cultural poverty.
Firstly, society relieves itself from support by purely putting exponential charts down to increased assessments rather than increased frequency of flipping the genetic switch.
Secondly, society flag waving an acronym as an identity. ‘Don’t say ‘symptom’ because it is my identity, and my variation from a baseline should be cheered rather than inspected.’
So, instead of heaving mud at each other, this episode reviews what the latest data says on:
What are the causes? e.g. intergenerational, pre-conception, prenatal, early attachment, environmental…
What are the consequences? e.g. increased risk ratios/comorbidities, intergenerational trauma transmission…
What is available for body-led care for ourselves and/or our loved ones? e.g. diet, hormones, neurotransmitters, brain wave entrainment, physical activity…
